Hillbilly Vision
Finding my voice was probably the hardest thing I have done yet in the field of writing. For years I sought after a way of expression that was creative, enjoyable to myself, and fun for the reader. The hillbilly voice of Stevie Rey is the product of that search.
Now, a little over a year after beginning my first book, The Hillbilly Bible, in the voice of Stevie Rey, it's gratifying to say I still enjoy being Stevie as much as ever. In "hillbilly" I found not only a writing voice, but something of a new identity- the product of my Mississippi roots, my limited training in theology, and my love for all things humorous. Stevie Rey, to me, has become what Mark Twain was to Samuel Clemens (please excuse the comparison to such a literary giant).
My vision for The Hillbilly Bible is to continue the series with successive versions of other books of the Bible. I believe that an audio version of the book would be wildly successful, possibly starring the likes of Jeff Foxworthy or Larry the Cable Guy. A movie, The Hillbilly King, starring Billy Bob Thornton as Peter is also on my radar.
I'm looking for an agent and a publisher with a vision to take the greatest story ever told to the world in a most unique way-the language of the south.
It ain't never been done that way before, y'all. I'm lookin' fer good folks to join me in this here adventure. It promises to be a wild ride.
All my Best to y'all,
Stevie Rey
